About This Game The Second Sino-Japanese War is part of the World War II, but this brutal war in Asia was, for a long time, forgotten by the world. The war in Europe lasted six years, while the war in China lasted eight years. Moreover, Chinese resistance against the invasion had already started since 1931, following the 918 Incident, also known as the Mukden Incident. Decades of war and conflict led to thousands and millions of casualties within China, and the Chinese people persevered through a national crisis of unprecendented suffering. We commemorate the warriors who sacrificed themselves for the nation, and express our gratitude to those foreign allies who rendered their assistance to China in the war. "Company of Heroes: Far East War" is a modification for Company of Heroes, the product of years of work from many skilled modders from various countries and regions, who hold a great sense of historical responsibility. This modification is centered around the 1937-1945 Second Sino-Japanese War, in which players can command a company to regiment-sized unit of the Chinese National Revolutionary Army or the Imperial Japanese Army in battle. The mod pays close attention to detail to the depiction of unit formations, uniforms, weaponry, and equipment of the Chinese and Japanese armies of the period. Everything from rank insignias on an infantryman to the paint used on vehicles are made to be as historically accurate as possible. It has been an absolute joy to play with, when it did manage to work. However, my only main problem with it is that it keeps on crashing suddenly, especially when I am already closing in on the enemy base with my tanks. I am not sure what causes it, and it is my only problem with this modification. If anybody out there has a solution for this, it would be highly appreciated and would truly grant me the enjoyment that this mod would surely be able to deliver.. it's a great mod but can you pelease fix the launch error. So far I've found it pretty engaging, although it does have some fairly serious bugs to work out (graphics glitches, Failure to load, indestructable bases, AI not being able to find capture points on some maps). Given the Greenlight status, hopefully these will be ironed out in the near future, and once the correct voice packs have been added. And it's also very nice to see a mod of any sort that focuses on the longest and one of the least represented conflicts of the 1930s/1940s. The concept is great, and the feel of the forces is unique despite being obviously based on the US and German factions of the core game. The specialisation trees add some interesting tricks and flavour to the two factions currently available (Imperial Japanese Army and Chinese Nationalist Resistance Army), and the detailing on both the maps and the models is exceptional.In the future it would seem that this mod could also be a good launching point for Pacific content, Such as US marines or British Chindits (given how the unit balance has evolved, it would not seem viable to port over the existing European army lists, too much heavy armour). Maybe even ANZAC troops (probably as a specialisation of the British) and some jungle/ island maps.To summerise, this is an ambitious and interesting mod, a little unpolished but with a lot of promise. I expect it will come into it's own as work is done on it, but be aware that as it stand it's still a work in progress.. realy cool mod !. fix crashes please. I would like to♥♥♥♥♥♥China again.. i know the ai cheats in the normal game but never as bad as this mod. the game was in one minute 30 seconds and the easy ai already had 5 units AND a barracks....i couldnt even afford a second unit after building a barracks. Fantastic mod for a very little known front in the war, the smallest details are perfectly done for such a small modding team they did an excellent job feels like a paid DLC. Cannot recommend this mod at this point of develpment state.First of all, it doesn't start very well. Either have to launch it several times to get it going, or having to add a command line in the vanilla CoH properties to get it to go. Second, i never finsihed a single match. I tried it four times now, and it crashed about 30 minutes into the game every single time.The core idea of the mod is good, i like it. Interesting units. And it could be fun, wouldn't it be for the obvious issues.Unfortunately all units just have the standard speech. Japanese sounding like germans, etc.Overall i feel like there might be a chinese bias in this game. the chinese LMG pretty much supresses instanly, whereas enemies can literally walk right up to the japanese LMG without getting supressed at all up to that point.As well as the british expeditionary force seem too strong for an early unit, since the japanese don't have any equally strong unit to counter it.The maps this mod brings are kind of flawed. Some have weird squares on the minimap which aren't supposed to be there. As well as imbalacement of the capture points. One example would be the "Nankin Suburban" map, where the chinese side has one +5 fuel, and three +10 fuel, and the japanese side as only one +5 fuel. There is one more +16 fuel but since that is pretty much in the middle of the map, it could be counted towards anyone. So, clearly major unbalancement there.I hope they will work this mod over. I'd like to play it. But it's not very enjoyable as of now.. The concept is really good and the dev team's ambition really shows. However, there are a few things about this mod that bring down the whole thing. Pros and Cons to follow.Cons- unable to load any saved games. According to the forums this has been something that the devs are aware of but have not mentioned in forums since december 2016. I really cannot understand how this core mechanic was broken/disabled.- constant crashing. If saved games could be loaded I would not hold this against the mod.- Tanks cost way way to much for either side to produce/ maintain anykind of armored presence, the chinese suffer from this more than the japanese. Ex: a tank that costs 500 MP, 55 fuel and 10 population should be able to stand more than 3 shots from a light AT gun and not be damaged at all by infantry gunfire. At the very least, it should be easier to replace when lost.- visually units look impressive up close but at any kind of zoomed out distance they become really monotone, lose thier head or turn invisible.- Some of the doctrine unlocks are too expensive for what they offer and a match can be over before you get a chance to unlock them.Pros- when you can actually see the full detail that was put into each unit, they are very impressive and well done.- the devs clearly did thier research and implemented what they found quite well.- many of the balancing and AI issues that ruin the skirmish games can be ignored in online play- with a reasonable amount of work I expect that this mod could (and one day should) be up there with Great War or Eastern Front as a must have, right now its not worth having if you dont have a committed group of friends to roll online with.
